We offer two (in summer 2009 there will be three) holiday flats, on the edge of the forest, but only a few minutes walking (about 30 m of altitude difference) from the parking area. (Your luggage will be transported by a funicular). This villa, almost two hundred years old, which has once been the hunting seat of a count Orsetti, a natural son of Napoleon III., has been carefully restored and is now provided with modern standards of technical comfort. Leisure Activities
- If desired the hostess, a doctor of art history and archaeology, who teached languages for more than 30 years will give you a crash course of Italian.
- She offers guided tours around the Lake Maggiore or to the relatively near City of Milano and to the baroque town of Torino. Visits to churches, museums and other sights can be connected with slow – food experiences.
- If you’ve got a roof luggage rack our three canoes and two small sailing boats are at your command. The Lake Mergozzo only a few miles from our house, a rather flat and very clean lake, is ideal for canoeing and swimming. The Lake Maggiore is very deep and a bit colder.
- Just behind our house the very original National park begins. There are many possibilities for climbing, hiking and mountain - biking tours, as well in the Monte Rosa area (The second highest mountain in Europe) about 20 miles from Caprezzo.
- In summer you can visit numerable concerts in the elegant Villas, Parks and churches around Verbania / Stresa.
- From the harbour of Intra (about 15 minutes by car) the ships take you to the famous Borromean Islands, to the most beautiful Santa Caterina del Sasso Monastery, to Borromean castles, to the elegant cities of Stresa, Arona, Ascona and in August to the Locarno Film Festival.
- Naturally you can as well relax and read in the hammocks and deck chairs on our 12 000 m² premises, which consist of terraces, garden and chestnut forest.
History
The Holiday Flats:
Apartment I on the second floor:
About 120 square metres. The rooms are about 4 m high. A large kitchen balcony with a wonderful view and two small balconies. It’s meant for 4 – 5 persons, with a big living – room with a fireplace of the designer Matten, a bedroom of about 35 square metres and another smaller bedroom with access to a history library (with about 1500 specialized historical books and historical novels) You’ll find further libraries (Arts, architecture, archaeology, historical cars, novels, travelling, climbing etc.) on the other floors of the house. The kitchen with a central cooking area and with a good technical equipment is connected to a dining balcony. (In the photo / CD the balcony is unfurnished, because it was taken just before leaving to Germany). The bathroom is spacious and elegant. The villa is situated in the middle of a large forest and garden area with about 150 m² of terraces around the house and a second terrace of about 100 m² with a pretty view in a distance of about 50m.
Apartment II on the third floor:
This flat (in the tower) has been planned for two persons. It’s about 55 m², with high bright rooms (4m). On three sides it is surrounded by a balcony 28 m long which gives view to the lake in the south and south – west and to the Parco Nazionale della Valgrande in the east. This flat consists of a small kitchen, a small bathroom with shower and a living – room of 35 m² with a comfortable fold-away bed. It’s got three glazed doors, each 3,30 m high which lead to the balcony. A good record player with about 1500 records in this room promises contemplative evenings in front of the Matten - fireplace.
